Job summary: Working independently or under the direction of the General Manager, Project Manager or Service Supervisor, performs skilled electrical work in the installation, testing, troubleshooting, repair and maintenance of electrical systems, electromechanical equipment and electronic equipment, controls, circuitry, and components.  Performs project installations, completes scheduled service, reactive service, and preventative maintenance for clients.

 

Responsibilities:

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:

  • Perform equipment installation and commissioning of new equipment – In-house or on-site.
  • Perform service calls and preventative maintenance:
    • Diagnose and analyze electrical and mechanical equipment failures.
    • Dismantle, repair, and assemble electrical and mechanical equipment.
    • Performs routine inspections on equipment, systems, buildings, etc. to ensure safe and efficient operations.
    • Completes and submits service reports.
    • Travels to job sites throughout service area.
    • Troubleshoots and makes required repairs to Customers’ equipment.
    • Creates daily records of performed work, materials, and time.
    • Customer liaison, follow up & product advisory.
    • Immediate escalation to senior management of issues that cannot be resolved successfully in the field.
  • Provide Field customer communication:
    • Communicate with Service Supervisor/Service Manager for service call scheduling.
    • Document and assist with organization of service calls.
  • Accurately complete and submit all required lists and reports, such as time sheets and mileage reports.
  • Provide Equipment demonstration to client personnel as required.
  • Provide remote and phone support to clients.
  • Complete after-hours service and support per scheduled rotation
  • Use typical electrical and mechanics tools and testing equipment.
  • Safely use and maintain hand tools and power tools.
  • Provide and maintain relevant hand tools.
  • Operate personal or assigned company vehicle in strict accordance with applicable company policy.
  • Ensure that all activities are performed safely using Best Safety Practices and in accordance with all applicable Safety Regulations and Company Policies. Notify management of any Safety related questions, ideas, or concerns.
  • Comply with all regulations, company policies and procedures.
  • Adheres to the Safety Policies, including use of proper Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and other safety equipment.
  • Assist in designing, managing, and implementing safety procedures.
  • Perform Site Safety Assessments as required, use appropriate Personal Protective Equipment and other required Safety Equipment. Always ensuring personal and client safety is a priority.
  • Always maintain professional appearance.
  • Assists and / or direct helpers as required.
  • Occasional climbing and fitting into tight areas is required.
  • Other related duties as assigned.

 

Qualifications:

  • 5+ years' of combined electrical experience and education.
  • Certificate of Apprenticeship or Trades Qualification Certificate as a journeyman Electrician recognized by the Province of B.C.
  • Preference given to candidates with FSR B designation
  • High School diploma
  • Detail orientated with highly effective analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Must be fluent in English.
  • Electrical/mechanical aptitude and an ability to learn new technology.
  • Ability to troubleshoot, install and maintain control circuits, motors, motor control circuits, and other electrical/electronic systems and equipment, as well as mechanical equipment/ hydraulic equipment.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Ability to use appropriate hand, power and specialty tools and diagnostic equipment to complete job tasks.
  • Ability to safely operate and maintain various hand, power and diagnostic tools.
  • Ability to work independently with minimum supervision.
  • Ability to work in various temperatures and outdoor environments.
  • Ability to interpret electrical schematics, product documentation, and shop drawings.
  • Ability to read and understand electrical/ mechanical drawings.
  • Knowledge/experience in instrumentation/control systems
  • Work from drawings, sketches, and use of simple math.
  • Capacity to work different shifts, weekends, and schedules on occasion as needed.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills with the proven ability to clearly understand instructions and communicate one-on-one to ensure good communications with colleagues.
  • Organized in approach to work assignments, practices effective time management, and prioritizes tasks
  • Physical ability to safely perform all aspects of the position and an ability to lift 50 lbs.
  • Must provide a well maintained and properly insured vehicle. Mileage Allowance will be paid for business related driving.
  • Valid BC Class 5 Driver’s license
  • Clean drivers abstract.
  • Ability to work independently or as part of a team.
  • Minimum Level 1 Occupational First Aid Certificate
  • Intermediate level of proficiency on various software applications including Word, Excel and Outlook.

  • Safely use and maintain company provided power tools and other electronic equipment
  • Equipment demonstration to clients
  • Maintains professional appearance at all times
  • Safely operate company vehicle, and performs minor maintenance such as performing pre-trip inspections, keeping vehicle tidy, and keeping supplies secure and organised. Document and submit mileage report monthly
  • Performs Site Safety Assessments as required, uses appropriate Personal Protective Equipment and other required Safety Equipment (ie. traffic cones, barriers, welding curtains etc. ) to ensure personal safety as well as safety of Clients and protection of Company and Client property at all times.
  • Notify management of any safety concerns
  • Follow all company policies
  • Additional related duties as assigned

  • Ability to interpret electrical schematics, product documents, and shop drawings
  • Ability to safely operate and maintain various hand, power and diagnostic tools.

  • Detail oriented with highly effective analytical and problem solving skills.
  • High School diploma.
  • Electrical Engineering diploma with 1 years related experience or minimum 2 years recent related experience with relevant and acceptable training
  • Physical ability to move equipment and other related supplies.
  • Valid BC Class 5 Driver’s license
  • Clean drivers abstract
  • Ability to work independently or as part of a team
  • Minimum Level 1 Occupational First Aid Certificate
  • Intermediate level of proficiency on various software applications including Word, Excel and Outlook.
